CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas Volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday night to take on the North Alabama Lions. The Lions will then return the favor on Sunday when they head to the Prince Center.
The Sugar Bears had their seven-game win streak snapped last Friday, dropping four set match to Lipscomb. UCA would bounce back nicely with a win over Austin Peay in an absolutely wacky match. Caylan Koons once again had a nice weekend, with a combined 79 assists and 14 digs over the weekend. On Saturday, Charlie Tidwell had her best performance of the year with 15 kills and was an absolute spark plug for the Sugar Bears.
The North Alabama Lions come into Wednesday's action having lost five ASUN games in a row. With Tristian Johnson at the helm, the Lions come into this week's action with a 12-10 record and a 2-8 mark in the ASUN this year.
A good majority of North Alabama's production comes from upperclassmen. Senior outside hitter Taylor Floyd leads the Lions in kills this season with 247, good for 3.05 per set. Anna Katherine Griggs is second on the Lions in kills with 162 and is averaging 2 kills per set. Sophomore setter Elif Ozsoy leads the UNA offensive attack with 425 assists on the year. Ozsoy also has 116 kills on the year, which is fourth on the lions. Ella Ratzloff leads UNA with 370 digs from the libero position.
Central Arkansas travels to Florence, Alabama to take on North Alabama on Wednesday, October 26th at 6:00 p.m. UCA then returns home on Sunday, October 30th to take on the Lions at noon. Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN+, and as always, you can follow every match on Twitter at @ucavball.
