LOUISVILLE, Ky. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears will try to make it three straight ASUN Conference victories on Tuesday night when they take on the Bellarmine Knights on the road.

The Bears (5-10, 2-0) and Knights (7-8, 1-0) will meet at 6 p.m. (CT) at Freedom Hall. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as well as on The Bear 91.3 and 92.7 Jack FM.

UCA has debuted nicely in its new conference, winning 79-72 on the road at Eastern Kentucky a week ago, then knocking off Lipscomb 93-88 on Sunday afternoon at the Farris Center. The Bears sit in first place in the ASUN West Division, one game ahead of Bellarmine and Jacksonville State. The Bears were picked 11th and 12th in the two preseason polls.

UCA made 11 three-pointers, shot 55.1 percent overall and had six players with double-figure scoring in beating Lipscomb, which was picked third and fifth in the polls. UCA freshman guard Camren Hunter earned his second consecutive ASUN Newcomer of the Week award after tying for team scoring honors with 18 points. Junior Eddy Kayouloud also had 18 points, all in the first half as he nearly single-handedly kept the Bears in the game.

Junior forward Darious Hall had his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and also added a career-high 7 rebounds.

The Bears took care of the ball, with a season-low five turnovers, and used solid perimeter shooting up and down the lineup. All eight players who saw action made a three-pointer as UCA had double-figure three-pointers for the third time in the past four games. UCA also got 35 points off the bench from Kayouloud, Jaxson Baker (10) and Masai Olowokere (7).

Bellarmine downed Eastern Kentucky 66-61 on Saturday at home after postponing its ASUN opener last week due to covid-19 protocols. The Knights have played a tough non-conference schedule, with losses to Purdue, Gonzaga, UCLA and West Virginia. Four of their seven victories have come against non-Division I programs.

Senior guard Dylan Penn leads Bellarmine in scoring at 15.1 points per game and assists at 5.4 per game. He is shooting 47.8 percent overall but just 13.3 percent (4 of 30) from three-point range. Junior guard Alec Pfriem makes up some of that difference, shooting 48.8 percent (21 of 43) from beyond the arc. The Knights shoot 48.2 percent as a team, which ranks first in the ASUN.

UCA returns home Saturday for a doubleheader with the Sugar Bears against North Alabama.
