CONWAY, Ark. - Central Arkansas volleyball returns to ASUN action as it heads to Nashville to battle Lipscomb.
A week removed from the Sugar Bears inaugural ASUN Crossover, they will begin the divisional section of the conference schedule as they take on the Bison on Oct. 1.Â
UCA had a successful stint in Jacksonville, Ala., and the hope is to draw from that experience for the foreseeable future. This will especially be true as it will be a close-knit matchup when these two teams hit the court. In the early part of the season, Lipscomb (5-8, ASUN 1-2) has had its ups and downs, similar to UCA (3-9, ASUN 1-2), which sits one spot below them in the standings. Both teams have had their struggles at times, but both teams have entered into conference play with a fire under them. The Bison have won three of their last four, while the Sugar Bears have been more explosive recently with successful outings against Kennesaw State and North Florida.Â
In this must-see ASUN contest, the players to watch are sophomore setter
Anna Myers and graduate student
Amari Mitchell. Myers has been on a tear recently as she posted her second double-double of the season against UNF with 14 digs and 30 assists. Overall she is averaging about seven digs as well in her last three matches. The other player to watch is Mitchell, who has been the heart and soul of the Sugar Bears netplay. During the three conference matches, Mitchell averaged a little over five blocks per as she had her second-highest total in her career for a match with seven blocks. The combination of the two will be extremely effective for this next match as it will be about claiming the momentum early on.Â
The players to watch for Bison are sophomore outside hitter Kamryn Bacus and sophomore setter Delany Dilfer. Both LU players have been extremely impactful as Bacus leads the team in points and is fifth in the conference for points per kill with 3.63. Dilfer is also an offensive specialist as she has accumulated 493 assists while also being fifth in the conference for service aces per set with .43.Â
This matchup will take place at 6 p.m. tomorrow at Allen Arena in Nashville.Â
