BEARS PUT EIGHT PAST UAPB

CONWAY, Ark. - The Central Arkansas Women's Soccer Team defeated the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff 8-0 on Friday, Sep. 10. The Bears had six different goal-scorers in their non conference victory.

FIRST HALF - SCORING AT WILL

The Bears opened up the first half with a quick goal in the fourth minute when Sydney Brough played a great through ball into the feet of Laurel Landry who tucked away the chance. Central Arkansas continued to play attacking as they doubled their lead in the 15th minute through a Morgan Rollow goal.

Just five minutes later, Sydney Brough was fouled inside the penalty area winning the Bears a penalty kick. Brough tucked away the third goal of the match and her second of the season. Not even a minute later Laurel Landry found the back of the net again for her brace, assisted by Morgan Rollow. The Bears rounded out the first half scoring in the 22nd minute when Sydney Brough scored her brace off a great pass from Emma Hawkins. Central Arkansas led 5-0 going into the halftime break.

SECOND HALF - OPPORTUNITIES & QUALITY MINUTES

Just as the Bears did in the first half, Abby Gibson scored just a minute into the second half after Hadley Dickinson provided a looping ball off a corner kick which found Gibson's head. Dickinson would get one of her own after Kelly Van Gundy played the perfect cross which Dickinson settled smoothly and tucked it away.

Emma Hawkins scored her sixth of the season in the 58th minute after having seven shots on goal tonight. The Bears recorded 41 total shots and 22 total shots on target.

HEAR FROM THE COACH

"The experience for some of the players and the scoring chances will help a lot with conference coming up. This match helped us gain experience in the attacking third which is huge," said Head Coach Jeremy Bishop after the big win tonight and getting to see multiple freshmen in action.
