CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas softball team will make a midweek trip to Fayetteville for a game against No. 6 Arkansas on Wednesday. The Bears enter the contest with a 26-14 overall record, while the Razorbacks have a 36-5 mark.
The game Wednesday marks just the third time Arkansas will plan an in-state foe. Earlier this season the Bears hosted the Razorbacks in front of a record-setting crowd in Conway.
Jenna Wildeman continues to lead the Bears with a .398 batting average, 37 stolen bases, and 32 runs scored.
Mary Kate Brown is second on the team with a .385 average. Brown has a team-high 10 doubles and is second on the team with 24 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
Cylla Hill has provided the power with a team-high seven home runs.
Kaylyn Shepherd and
Kristen Whitehouse are tied for second on the team with four homers. Shepherd and Hill have each produced 29 RBIs and are tied for the team lead. Shepherd and Brown are tied for the team lead with two triples.
In the circle, UCA is led by
Kayla Beaver with a 1.18 ERA and a 13-6 record. She has a team-high 106.1 innings pitched and is second on the staff with 84 strikeouts.
Jordan Johnson is second on the staff with a 2.13 ERA and a 9-5 record. She has produced a team-high 100 strikeouts in 98.2 innings in the circle and has picked up two saves.
The Razorbacks are coming off of a series sweep at No. 20 Georgia. Arkansas enters the contest ranked third in the NCAA averaging 1.93 home runs per game. Braxton Burnside is second in the nation with 22 homers, while Danielle Gibson and Linnie Malkin are tied for 18th with 13 home runs. Gibson leads the team with a .378 batting average and is second on the squad with 44 RBIs. Burnside is second on the team with a .374 average and has produced a team-high 49 RBIs.
Mary Haff leads the Razorbacks in the circle with a 1.36 ERA, 138.2 innings pitched and 151 strikeouts. Autumn Storms is second on the staff with a 1.37 ERA, 71.1 innings pitched, and 56 strikeouts.
