CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas softball team heads to Houston for a three-game series against Southland Conference foe Houston Baptist on Saturday and Sunday. The Bears enter the weekend on a 12-game winning streak in the Southland and have swept the last four weekend series.
UCA is coming off of a three-game sweep against Nicholls. The Bears outscored the Colonels 23-3 in the series.
Jenna Wildeman continues to lead the Bears at the plate with a .423 batting average. She also leads the team with 37 stolen bases, 32 runs scored, and 47 hits.
Mary Kate Brown is second on the team with a .406 average and second with 26 runs scored.
Cylla Hill leads the team with seven home runs and is second on the team with 27 RBIs.
Kaylyn Shepherd has a team-high 28 RBIs and is tied for second on the team with four homers.
Jaylee Engelkes is tied for second on the squad with four home runs and has produced a batting average of .378.
Kayla Beaver paces the pitching staff with a 1.19 ERA in a team-high 100.1 innings and has a team-best 13-5 record. She is second on the staff with 80 strikeouts and surrendered the least walks with just 17.
Jordan Johnson is second on the staff with a 2.12 ERA in 85.2 innings with a record of 8-4. She leads the team with 85 strikeouts and is holding opponents to a batting average of just .181.
This will be the 17th meeting between the two programs. Central Arkansas holds an 11-5 lead in the series. UCA is 4-2 in games played in Houston. The Bears are riding a three-game winning streak against the Huskies, including a 7-2 victory in the last meeting on April 27, 2019.
Heidi Jaquez leads HBU with a .386 batting average, 20 runs scored, and 12 walks. Shelby Echols is second on the team with a .353 average. Autumn Sydlik has a team-high six home runs and was named Southland Hitter of the Week with two homers and six RBIs. The Huskies' pitching staff is led by Jessica Patak with 60.1 innings pitched. She has a record of 5-7 with 37 strikeouts. Lyndie Swanson leads the staff with 38 strikeouts in 50.2 innings. She has a perfect 5-0 record and has an ERA of 1.24.
