CONWAY, Ark. – The Central Arkansas softball team remains on the road as it makes the trek to Abilene, Texas, for a three-game stint against the ACU Wildcats. The Bears and Wildcats will play for the 13th time in game one at the Poly Wells Field on Friday.
UCA is coming off a difficult weekend at McNeese where the squad went 1-2. Despite the results, the Bears are currently 13-10 overall after their first Southland Conference series. Central Arkansas is led by
Jenna Wildeman, who is batting .453. She leads the team with 19 stolen bases and 17 runs scored.
Mary Kate Brown is second on the team with a .407 batting average and is tied for second on the squad with 15 RBIs.
Cylla Hill and
Kaylyn Shepherd pace the Bears with home runs with four and three, respectively. In the circle,
Kayla Beaver has a team-best 1.16 ERA. She also leads the staff with a 6-3 record, 54.1 innings pitched, and 47 strikeouts.
Rio Sanchez is second on the squad with a 2.37 ERA. She has a 4-3 record with 29 strikeouts.
Jordan Johnson has an ERA of 3.31 and is second on the team in innings pitched, with 42.1, and strikeouts with 44.
The Bears hold a 9-3 series lead against the Wildcats. UCA is currently riding a two-game winning streak against ACU. The Bears have a 5-1 advantage in games played in Abilene.
ACU comes into the weekend with a 6-15 overall record and are 2-1 in conference play. The Wildcats are led by Calie Burris with a .313 batting average, 16 RBIs, and she is tied for the team lead in home runs with seven. Avery Miloch is tied for the team-lead in homers with seven, leads the squad with 12 runs scored, and is second on the team with 13 RBIs. Samantha Bradley paces the pitching staff with a 4.53 ERA, 55.2 innings pitched, and 20 strikeouts. She has a 3-7 record in the circle. Riley White is second on the team with a 5.82 ERA, 49.1 innings pitched, and 12 strikeouts. She bolsters a 3-6 record for ACU.
