FLORENCE, Ala. – The Central Arkansas beach volleyball team was in action Friday at the Shoals Beach Bash hosted by North Alabama. The Beach Bears won 14 out of 15 matches on the day.
Central Arkansas 5, Huntingdon 0
The No. 1 spot duo of
Aly Brinkley and
Colene Hamilton defeated Amy Tyma and Audra Horsley in two sets by a score of 21-19 and 21-13 respectively.
Evelyn Griffith and
Faith Hasness defeated Jessica Brunk and Cadie Shirley in the No. 2 position in two sets with a tally of 21-11 and 21-9, respectively.
Shannon Stone and
Makenna Schmitt took the No. 3 spot match with marks of 21-19 and 21-9 in two sets against Lauren Hinton and Morgan Isley.
Bria Garmon and
Julia Oravec swept the No. 4 spot match against Josie Hester and Jordan Hollis by scores of 21-15 and 21-9. In the No. 5 position,
Kelsie Sager and
Kayla Cook swept Ashanti Thomas and ZaKira Landrum in two sets with a tally of 21-12 and 21-3. In an exhibition match,
Mary Galloway and
Marissa Gilmore defeated Addie Jacobs and Kennedy Chambers in two sets with scores of 21-10 and 21-10.
Central Arkansas 4, North Alabama 1
In the No. 1 position, Brinkley and Hamilton lost a hard-fought battle to Maya Dickson and Taylor Seney in three sets. Brinkley and Hamilton won the first set, but were unable to hold on and lost the second and third sets. Griffith and Hasness swept in the No. 2 spot against Paula Klemperer and Natalie Kordt, 21-18 and 21-19. In the No. 3 spot Schmitt and Stone won in three sets against the tandem of Lauren Quigley and Jelena Girod.
Garmon and Oravec secured a win through two sets in the No. 4 position against Mackenzie Martin and Catie Ladner. In the No. 5 spot, Cook and Sager defeated Samantha Shafer and Allison Temple by scores of 21-14 and 21-10. The exhibition match was won by Galloway and Gilmore in two sets against Caroline Conkle and Mackenzie Blackwood.
Central Arkansas 5, Hendrix 0
Brinkley and Hamilton defeated MaKenzie Presley and Camryn Presley in two sets, 21-14 and 21-15 in the No. 1 position. In the No. 2 spot, Griffith and Hasness swept Kyler Greenlee and Morgan Ford, 21-18 and 21-14. Schmitt and Stone took the match in the No. 3 position against Grace Turner and Isabella Eurgil 23-21 and 21-9.
Oravec and Garmon won their match at the No. 4 position against Avery Stephens and Megan Jinright with scores of 21-14 and 21-11. In the No. 5 spot, Cook and Sager swept Meghan Fuller-Freeman and Grace Dean in two sets by tallies of 21-12 and 21-9. Glimore and Galloway also clenched a victory in their exhibition match against Charlotte Alexander and Faith Hill through two sets.
