SUGAR BEARS RETURN FOR ROAD MATCH AGAINST MCNEESE

CONWAY, Ark.: After a week off, the University of Central Arkansas volleyball program (3-5, SLC 1-2) returns to action as they start their week at McNeese (2-2, SLC 2-2) tomorrow.

The Sugar Bears have a long week ahead of them as they start traveling to Westlake, La., for tomorrow's matchup before coming back home to face New Orleans at home Saturday.

As UCA enters the court tomorrow, they will be playing to get back the momentum they gained after the spring season's first match. In their first match, the Sugar Bears brought a fire that was hard to match as they bested Sam Houston State on the road. However, they have been unable to gather that sort of energy as they faced their next two opponents, UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Both of those matches ended in a 3-0 loss and left UCA wanting redemption. Now, after a week off from playing, the Sugar Bears will get their opportunity against Cowgirls.

While UCA has struggled at times, more than a few players have stepped up big this season. During both the fall and spring, no one seems to have stepped up as big as senior Libro Emily Doss. Doss currently ranks third in the conference in digs per set at 5.11 and is the defense's focal point. On the offensive side multiple leaders have emerged such as senior setter Bailey Waddington, junior outside hitter Lexi Miller and senior outside hitter Amanda Beaton. Waddington ranks among the best in the conference with 9.15 sets per set, Miller does the same in the kills category with 3.16 and Beaton ranks second on the team with 78 kills.

From the other side of the net, McNeese is a strong team and should make for a solid matchup as they are 2-2 on the year. The Cowgirls are led by the offensive prowess of junior outside hitter Kendall Gueck. Gueck leads the team in kills (43) and points (51). From the defensive side of the court, senior Libro Madison Fontenot has most of the ground covered. The Libro leads the team in digs with 53 while averaging 3.53 per set.

Due to hurricane damage to McNeese's normal arena, there will be no live video stream for this match. However, live stats will be available on the link on the schedule. This matchup is set to start at 6 p.m. tomorrow at SP Arnett Middle School in Westlake, La.
