SUGAR BEARS READY FOR CRUCIAL ASUN ROADTRIP

CONWAY, Ark. - Central Arkansas enters into their final road stretch of the regular season as they battle two opponents with significant conference seeding implications.

The Sugar Bears have two crucial matchups as they take their trip to Kentucky to face Bellarmine (6-19, ASUN 2-11) on Friday and Eastern Kentucky (7-20, ASUN 4-9) on Saturday.

Entering into the weekend, UCA is currently ranked fourth in the West Division and ninth overall in the ASUN. The tournament structure takes the top three in each division and then fills out the rest of the field with the next best squads to make it eight total teams. Eastern Kentucky is currently third in the West, and Bellarmine sits last, but only a game behind the Sugar Bears, so anything can happen by the end of the weekend.

To get the best result, UCA will lean on the leaders of the squad, specifically junior Alexis Stumbough and graduate student Amari Mitchell. Stumbough posted yet another significant contest as she put together her fifth double-double of the season against Lipscomb (17 kills and 11 digs). That mark only solidified her dominance on the squad as she leads the team in kills (185), points (211.5), and is second in digs (194). Mitchell also excelled in her last outing as she was extremely efficient with a .500 hitting percentage with nine kills. The middle blocker has been dominant on offense and is one of the main reasons UCA is third in the ASUN for blocks per set with 2.26. Mitchell hosts 1.06 blocks per set, ranking eighth in the conference while also leading the Sugar Bears with 76 total blocks.

UCA will call on both of these leaders as they battle the Knights and the Colonels. In the previous outings, the Sugar Bears bested Bellarmine 3-0, while EKU claimed the last match 3-2. The first of the two tests will occur at 5 p.m. tomorrow in Louisville, while the next test will happen at 3 p.m. Saturday in Richmond, Ky.
