CONWAY, Ark. – Rounding out a three-match home stand, the Central Arkansas women's soccer team faces Jacksonville State in an ASUN match on Thursday. First touch at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex is slated for 7 p.m.
Â
The Bears look to regain their footing on Thursday, currently holding a 5-7 record, including a 2-2 ASUN record. After a torrid stretch of matches in September that saw the squad win four of five, Central Arkansas has seen its momentum slowed as of late, dropping its last two outings. Most recently, the Bears fell at the hands of ASUN foe Liberty on Sunday.
Â
Despite the final score, the highlight of the day came from
Emma Hawkins, who scored her league-leading 10
th goal of the season. The Forney, Texas native has tallied at least one point in each of her last four outings, and leads the ASUN with 24 points in 2021. Nationally, Hawkins is tied for fifth in total points and tied for eighth in total goals.
Â
Jacksonville State enters the week with a 6-6-1 overall record and a 2-2 conference record after picking up a 4-2 win over Stetson on Sunday. The Gamecocks netted three goals in the first half, putting enough distance between the teams to withstand a comeback effort from Stetson.
Â
Leading the way offensively for Jacksonville State is junior Cephana Deane with five goals on the year. Between the posts, Morgan Lerch has logged 1145 minutes, recording 58 saves and tallying 3 solo shutouts.
