CONWAY, Ark. – The University of Central Arkansas opens the 2020 campaign in Louisiana with six games in four days. The Bears take on the LSU Tigers in the season opener followed by five games in the Big Easy Tournament hosted by Louisiana Tech.

UCA is led by Preseason All-Southland First Team honorees
Kayla Crutchmer,
Cylla Hill, and
Kaylyn Shepherd. The Bears and Tigers have faced off three times in the last three years. LSU won all three meetings with the last being a 3-0 victory in 2018. The Tigers are led by Aliyah Andrews who was named to the USA Softball Top-50 Watch List. Shelbi Sunseri joins Andrews on the Preseason All-SEC Team. UCA and LSU are slated for a 6 p.m. start on Thursday.

Central Arkansas kicks off the Big Easy Tournament with matchups against Montana at 9:30 a.m. and Jackson State at noon on Friday. The game against the Grizzlies will be the first between the two programs. The Bears and the Lady Tigers have played each other five times in the last four years, with UCA winning all five matchups.

The Bears open day two of the tournament with another ranked opponent in No. 16 Texas Tech at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. This marks the first meeting between the Bears and Red Raiders. Texas Tech is led by Softball America Preseason All-America Third Team member, Karli Hamilton. UCA finishes day two against Alabama A&M at 2:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs are led by the SWAC Preseason Player of the Year, Tamia Lee-Barbadillo.

Central Arkansas closes out the Big Easy Tournament with host Louisiana Tech on Sunday at 10 a.m. The Bears and Lady Techsters have met six times, with each team winning three games. La Tech won the last matchup in 2018, 8-7, but UCA has won two of the last three meetings. The Lady Techsters are led by C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, Lindsay Edwards.
