Benton, Ky. – The Central Arkansas tennis team was unable to slow down the streaking Racers of Murray State on Thursday afternoon as they fell 5-2 at the Kenlake Tennis Center. The Bears (2-5) could not overcome a daunting 3-0 deficit as the Racers (6-1) took the doubles point and courts 2 and 4 to create the early separation.

SINGLES – After sophomores
Fuka Nonoyama and
Mei Ishimura lost 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-2 respectively to give Murray State the 3-0 advantage, freshman
Jaeun Lee gave her team hope as she took the No. 6 court 7-5, 6-3 for her second collegiate win. Up 3-1, the match was clinched at court No. 3 for the Racers as freshman powerhouse Marit Kreugel defeated freshman
Maja Gledic 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 and improved to 7-0 on the year. Even though the match was decided, play resumed as junior
Yada Vasupongchai swept her opponent at the No. 5 to improve to 2-0 after battling injuries to start the year. The day officially ended with a battle at the top court as sophomore
Chunxi Xin fell to senior Sara Loncarevic 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 to solidify the 5-2 win for the home team.
DOUBLES – The electric pairing of Xin and Nonoyama continued their stellar play at the No. 1 as they started the morning off with a 6-1 win and improved to 5-2. The Racers took control after that though as they took courts No. 2 and 3 6-1 and 6-2 to win their seventh consecutive doubles point.
