BEARS FALL IN FINAL MATCH BEFORE TOURNAMENT

ATLANTA, GA. - The Central Arkansas men's soccer team fell 1-0 to the Panthers of Georgia State in their final conference match of the season.

The Bears started strong, putting the first shot on frame from Soren Jensen, but nothing would come of it in the 15th minute. The Bears went down to ten men when Edoardo Calzola was shown a red card in the 37th minute after a rough tackle. The Bears continued to have a majority of chances through the remainder of the first half, but could not find the opener.

Georgia State took control of the second half, but Central Arkansas continued to find chances on counter-attacks. It wasn't until the 86th minute when Georgia State found the breakthrough after a UCA foul.

"Today was a real battle. I thought we started well and generated chances early. Georgia State is a very strong team and we knew we had to be at our best. Going down a man in the first half certainly made it challenging the rest of the way, but I was proud of how we responded to that adversity," said Coach Ross Duncan. "We continued to compete and forced them to come up with a moment of brilliance to win the game. Now we prepare for the tournament."

The Bears travel back to Atlanta next Thursday for the first round of the conference tournament which begins on Friday, Nov. 13.
