BEAUMONT, Texas – For the second consecutive game, the University of Central Arkansas softball and Lamar were locked up in a pitcher's duel. The Cardinals came out on the winning end of this one, scoring one run in the fourth inning and shutting down the Bears bats to earn their eighth Southland victory of the season.
The last three losses for UCA (18-19, 5-7 SLC) have all been one-run defeats.
NOTABLES
- Coming on in relief for starting pitcher Rachel Haberman, senior lefty Ellie Reaves (1-2) had another great day in the circle despite getting the loss. The Beebe native tossed the final 5.0 innings, allowing just the one earned run while striking out three.
- The Bears' No. 1 Southland Conference offense was held in check all day by Lamar started Julia Voluntad. The Cardinal hurler limited UCA to just four hits, all singles, in the contest.
- Oakley Sisemore recorded a hit and made a great diving snag in left field for Central Arkansas. The senior leader has made several spectacular grabs throughout the season in left.
- Cylla Hill was the only Bear to reach base twice. She recorded one of the four singles and also drew a walk in the loss.
- Kaylyn Shepherd and Erin Blackburn recorded the other two basehits for UCA.
