CONWAY — Central Arkansas led wire-to-wire and was never seriously tested as the Sugar Bears cruised past Crowley's Ridge College 82-26 in the Farris Center Saturday night.
The Sugar Bears (3-5) held CRC to to just three field goals (3-for-18, 16.7 percent) in the first half in building a 36-9 lead. The dominance would continue in the second half, with Central Arkansas outscoring the Lady Pioneers 46-17 – including a 29-point 3rd quarter, the Sugar Bears' second-highest point total in a quarter this season.
The Sugar Bears shot 50.8 percent from the field for the game while holding the Lady Pioneers to just 19.7 percent (9 of 47) overall and 18.8 percent (3 of 16) from 3-point range; out rebounded CRC 48-25; and had 31 points off 27 Lady Pioneer turnovers.
Three Sugar Bears finished in double figures scoring, with
Brionna Budgetts and
Hannah Langhi scoring 16 each and
Alana Canady registering her first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
It marks the fifth straight season for the Sugar Bears to defeat the Lady Pioneers, with the previous four wins coming by an average score of 98-32.
The Sugar Bears return to action next Sunday when they host Central Baptist College at 3:00pm in the Farris Center in the final non-conference tuneup before opening Southland Conference play with a two-game road trip at Incarnate Word on Dec. 18 and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 21.
