SALT LAKE CITY, Utah _ Six players in double figures carried the Utah Utes to a 98-67 victory over the University of Central Arkansas Bears on Saturday afternoon at the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
Timmy Allen led the Utes (7-2) with 24 points and Alfonso Plummer added 18 points off the bench as Utah shot 50.7 percent from the field, including a red-hot 60.6 percent in the opening half. Allen had 19 of his points in the first half and led the Utes to a 55-42 halftime lead.
The Bears (1-8) shot 53.3 percent in the first half and stayed within striking distance on the strength of 13 points from junior guard
Rylan Bergersen. Bergersen, a transfer from nearby BYU, led the Bears with career-high 21 points.
The Utes forced 22 turnovers and turned it over just eight times, and also had 20 assists. Utah went 11 for 30 from three-point range and made 17 of 22 at the free-throw line.
For the Bears, sophomore
Eddy Kayouloud added 13 points and a team-high 8 rebounds as the Bears outrebounded the much taller Utes 44-39, including 16 offensive rebounds.Â
