SUGAR BEARS LOOK TO COOL OFF RED-HOT LADY DEMONS

CONWAY – The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears will try and put their New Orleans loss behind them on Tuesday night as they will welcome the red-hot Lady Demons of Northwestern State (13-7, 5-1 SLC) to the Prince Center at 6 p.m. The Sugar Bears (8-11, 2-4 SLC) return home after a 1-1 SLC stint last week that started with a thrilling 3-2 win over McNeese and concluded with a disappointing 3-1 loss to New Orleans on Saturday afternoon. Senior Abbie Harry and junior Emily Doss were the two bright spots for Central Arkansas as Harry combined for 40 kills and 25 digs over the two matches while Doss turned in back-to-back 24 dig games. Harry currently sits at No. 2 in the SLC with 262 kills while Doss is No. 1 in digs with 369.

The Sugar Bears will enter tomorrow night's match leading the conference in total kills (1,048), attacks (2,847) and assists (972) while ranking second in total digs (1,192).

MEET THE NORTHWESTERN STATE LADY DEMONS

The Northwestern State Lady Demons reside in Natchitoches, Louisiana and will carry a five-game SLC winning streak into the Prince Center tomorrow night. The Lady Demons sit at No. 3 in SLC standings and are coming off back-to-back 3-0 wins over Lamar and Southeastern Louisiana. The visiting team will be seeking revenge on the Sugar Bears as Central Arkansas knocked the Lady Demons out of the SLC Tournament on their home court last November after overcoming a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2.

Central Arkansas will try and slow down six-foot junior outside hitter Hannah Brister as she leads the SLC in five different offensive categories. She received SLC Offensive Player of the week honors after totaling 29 kills for 4.8 per set over the two sweeps. Her performance against Lamar solidified the honor as she recorded her third one-error game of the season and finished with an unstoppable .455 hitting percentage. On the defensive side, senior libero Megan Lohmiller received SLC Defensive Player of the Week honors as she turned in 36 digs through six sets and helped the Lady Demons hold Lamar and Southeastern Louisiana to a combined .079 hitting percentage.

As a team, the Lady Demons best SLC ranks come in assists per set (12.10, first), kills per set (13.03, second) and digs per set (15.91, third).

ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH MARISSA COLLINS ON THE LADY DEMONS

"We know that Northwestern State is a solid team and they have always battled really hard against us in the past. Our main focus tomorrow is maintaining a consistent level of play on our side. We have had a couple of unfortunate losses, so fighting our way to wins is the one goal our team is working toward right now.

Our offensive numbers have picked up over the past few matches, with some of our attackers putting up big numbers. We need our defense to be the difference maker this week against Northwestern State and Lamar.

I'm fully expecting our team to rise up in these next two matches and start turning the corner to success."
