BEARS FALL ON LATE GOAL AT DAYTON

Dayton, Ohio – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team continued a four-match road trip on Friday afternoon, heading to Dayton, Ohio to take part in the University of Dayton's Dayton Flyer Classic. The Bears led for the majority of the match, before a pair of late goals saw the Flyers earn a 2-1 win.

Central Arkansas (0-5-0) took the lead in the 29th minute, when sophomore Niklas Brodacki converted from the penalty spot for his second goal of the season. That lead would hold for nearly 50 minutes, as the Flyers (2-1-2) got the equalizer when Nick Hagenkord took advantage of a UCA miscue, winning the one-on-one for Dayton. The Flyers would get the game-winner just seven minutes later, as Lance Gaspar played a cross into the six-yard box, where Thor Helgason touched it home.

On the night, Brodacki put a pair of shots on goal and Lucas Genty added a shot on target, while in net for the Bears Marc Olsen made seven saves.

"We put ourselves in a position to get a win on the road against a very good team, and we let ourselves down," said UCA head coach Ross Duncan. "Our mentality didn't break, but we did not execute when the moments came to put the game away and to keep a shutout. Marc was outstanding tonight. Dayton put us under a lot of pressure and he came up big time and time again. It's a shame we couldn't reward him with the shutout he deserved."

The Bears return to action on Sunday morning, taking on Fort Wayne at 10:00 AM.

"It is time for us to step through this wall that we've been up against," said Duncan. "We are fed up. Sunday we will bring everything against Fort Wayne and give them everything they can handle."
