STILLWATER, Okla. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears knocked off the Oklahoma State Cowboys for the second time in the past three meetings Tuesday night, rolling to a 11-5 win at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
UCA (18-16) got a five-RBI day from junior left fielder Keaton Presley and sophomore first baseman Hunter Strong had three hits and added four more RBI as the Bears put together two five-run innings in beating the Big 12 Cowboys.
Trailing 3-0 after three innings, the Bears exploded for five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to put the game out of reach. Presley, from Springfield, Mo., had a two-run single, junior Jansen McCurdy had an RBI single and Strong finished it off with another two-run single in the top of the fourth to put the Bears up for good.Â
The Bears did it again in their very next at bat. Junior designated hitter Justin McCarty walked and eventually scored the first run on a wild pitch. The Bears loaded the bases and Presley cleared them with a three-run double down the left-field line that made it 9-3. Strong's RBI double ended the scoring in the inning and stretched the lead to seven runs. Â
After the Cowboys (19-13) got a run each in the fifth and sixth, Strong added his fourth RBI in the seventh when McCurdy got an infield single, stole second and scored on Strong's base hit to left center.
Senior Brandon Hagerla relieved senior starter Jacob Murray in the fifth and allowed just one run over the final five frames to win his team-high fifth game of the season.
Presley finished 2 for 4 with a career-high 5 RBI and scored twice. Strong was 3 for 5 with 4 RBI, while McCurdy, junior catcher Colby LeBlanc and junior center fielder Michael Haun had two hits each as UCA out-hit OSU 13-8.
  Â
The Bears, who won for the fifth time in their past six games, have scored 28 runs in the past two games. They host Dallas Baptist in a three-game, non-conference series beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bear Stadium.
