Conway – The Central Arkansas Bears took to the turf at Farris Field looking for their third Southland Conference sweep. The Bears got a pair of home runs en route to a 4-2 win and a sweep of the Houston Baptist Huskies.
Central Arkansas (35-17, 16-8 SLC) wasted no time in taking a lead, as right fielder
Briana Whisenhunt led off the bottom of the first inning with a double to the gap in left-center field. A fielding error on the play saw Whisenhunt end up on third base, before a sacrifice fly from second baseman
Sarah Bigej drove her in to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Catcher
Jessie Taylor added to the lead later in the inning, blasting a solo home run off the scoreboard to push the lead to 2-0. The homer was Taylor's 12
th of the season, which ties the Central Arkansas single season record set in 2005 by Janell Brooks during the program's Division II era.

The Bears added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning, when Bigej led off with a walk. Third baseman

HBU (15-26, 7-16 SLC) would get a two-run shot from second baseman Demi Janak in the top of the sixth, but that would be all the Huskies could muster on the day.
Shivaun Landeros (21-11) earned the win with her 19

Forrest led the Central Arkansas offense on the day, going 1-for -3 with a pair of runs batted in, while Taylor and Bigej each added an RBI.
