Baltimore, Mary. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team took the field on Sunday night, travelling to Baltimore, Maryland to square off against the twelfth-ranked University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers. Despite putting up double-digit shot attempts against the 2014 final four squad, the Bears were unable to put themselves on the board, falling 5-0.
UMBC (1-0-1) opened the scoring in the 17
th minute, when Michael Scott collected a cross from Cormac Noel and headed it into the bottom-right corner of the net. The Retrievers added a goal in 33
rd minute, when Gregg Hauck and James Gielen strung a set of passes together to feed Darius Madison, who beat Central Arkansas (0-2) keeper
Harrison Veith to the bottom-left corner of the net.
In the second half, UMBC added a pair of back-to-back goals in the 72
nd and 73
rd minute, when Noel and Hauck picked up scores of their own. Christian Morales capped the match's scoring in the 85
th minute, slotting home a free kick from 22 yards out to make it 5-0 UMBC.
The Bears put up 10 shots against UMBC on the night, including shots on goal from freshman

Jacob Jerles also gave the Bears a solid chance in the second half, but his attempt rattled of the crossbar.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Friday night, opening the home part of their schedule against cross-town opponent Central Baptist at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
