Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

BEARS FALL TO #12 UMBC 5-0

Baltimore, Mary. – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team took the field on Sunday night, travelling to Baltimore, Maryland to square off against the twelfth-ranked University of Maryland-Baltimore County Retrievers. Despite putting up double-digit shot attempts against the 2014 final four squad, the Bears were unable to put themselves on the board, falling 5-0.

UMBC (1-0-1) opened the scoring in the 17th minute, when Michael Scott collected a cross from Cormac Noel and headed it into the bottom-right corner of the net. The Retrievers added a goal in 33rd minute, when Gregg Hauck and James Gielen strung a set of passes together to feed Darius Madison, who beat Central Arkansas (0-2) keeper Harrison Veith to the bottom-left corner of the net.

In the second half, UMBC added a pair of back-to-back goals in the 72nd and 73rd minute, when Noel and Hauck picked up scores of their own. Christian Morales capped the match's scoring in the 85th minute, slotting home a free kick from 22 yards out to make it 5-0 UMBC.

The Bears put up 10 shots against UMBC on the night, including shots on goal from freshman Daltyn Knutson and sophomore William Woody. Freshman Jacob Jerles also gave the Bears a solid chance in the second half, but his attempt rattled of the crossbar.

Central Arkansas returns to action on Friday night, opening the home part of their schedule against cross-town opponent Central Baptist at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
