CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas placekicker Jace Denker was named the Southland Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Denker, a senior from Bryant, had a perfect day kicking for the Bears last Saturday in their 34-31 victory over the Nicholls Colonels in Thibodaux, La. Denker was 4 for 4 on point-after attempts and kicked two field goals of 30 and 33 yards.

For the season, Denker is 13 of 15 on field goals an 28 of 30 on PATs. He ranks first in the league in field goals (1.3 per game) and first in field goal percentage (86.7).

The win for the second-place Bears improved their overall record to 7-3 and their SLC mark to 7-1 with one game remaining in the regular season. UCA hosts third-place Sam Houston State at 6 p.m. Saturday on "The Stripes" at First Security Field at Estes Stadium.
