Conway – The 2014 Sears Sugar Bear Classic came to a close on Saturday, as the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears and Tulsa Golden Hurricane squared off at the Prince Center. The Golden Hurricane proved victorious on the day, taking down Central Arkansas 3-0.
The Sugar Bears (1-5) hit .151 on the day, compared to .260 from Tulsa (5-1). Heather Schnars led the Central Arkansas offense, hitting .325 and tallying a match-high16 kills, while adding five digs and two aces. Amy South picked up a team-high 29 assists, while Shelbee Berringer had a team-high 15 digs.
Central Arkansas returns to action next weekend travelling to Tallahassee, Florida to take part in the 2014 Four Points by Sheraton Seminole Volleyball Invitational. The Sugar Bears will take on Samford at 10:00 AM on Friday morning and Louisiana State at 4:00 PM on Friday afternoon, before wrapping up their tournament appearance against host Florida State at 10:00 AM Saturday morning.
