Monroe, La. – The Central Arkansas women's soccer team continued its month-long road trip on Sunday afternoon, heading to Monroe, Louisiana to take on the Warhawks of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Bears came up short in the match, surrendering a goal off of a set piece in the 81
st minute to fall 1-0.
Despite the teams combining for 13 shots in the first half, neither was able to break through until late in the second half. In the 81
st minute, ULM's (6-3-1) Antonia Land launched a free kick from midfield to the feet of Mary Ashton Lembo, who slid it past Central Arkansas' (4-3-1) Anna Hughes for the game-winner.
Allie Coleman, Alex Moore, and Vanessa Randall led the Central Arkansas attack on the day, each placing two of their three attempts on target, while Cassie Lange and Shelby Wilson each added a shot on goal. Lembo led the way for the Warhawks, placing all three of her shots on frame. Katherine Werther earned the win for ULM making eight saves, while Hughes took the loss for Central Arkansas, making ten saves and allowing a single goal.
Central Arkansas finally finishes its road swing next weekend, travelling to Corpus Christi, Texas on Friday to open Southland Conference play against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. On Sunday, the Bears will open their home conference schedule, playing host to Northwestern State.
