SUGAR BEARS FALL TO SEVENTH-RANKED SEMINOLES

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Central Arkansas volleyball team made its final appearance in the Four Points by Sheraton Seminole Volleyball Invitational on Saturday morning, taking the court against host school Florida State. The Seminoles, who came into the match ranked seventh in the nation, proved to be too much for the Sugar Bears to handle, as Central Arkansas dropped the match 3-0.

After the Seminoles (7-0) took the first set 25-11, the Sugar Bears (3-6) rebounded to keep things interesting, dropping the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-17. Central Arkansas hit just .077 on the day, compared to .478 for Florida State.

Heather Schnars had a match-high 12 kills for Central Arkansas, and setter Amy South dished out a match-high 28 assists. On the defensive side of the ball, Shelbee Berringer dug a match-high 12 attacks, but the Sugar Bears were out-blocked nine to one by the Seminoles.

Central Arkansas returns to action next weekend, hosting the Sugar Bear Classic at the Prince Center. The Sugar Bears will host Southland Conference opponent New Orleans on Friday at 1:00 PM, before wrapping up the day's games against Grambling State at 8:00 PM. Central Arkansas will close out the tournament on Saturday afternoon, playing Nevada-Las Vegas at 3:00 PM.
