CONWAY, Ark. _ The top two offensive players in the Southland Conference will meet in the Farris Center on Saturday afternoon when the University of Central Arkansas Bears host the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles.
UCA senior guard LaQuentin Miles and ORU senior forward Shawn Glover are averaging 22.9 and 21.8 points per game, respectively. Miles, who only played the second semester this season, has not played enough games to be considered the league's top scorer, but would lead the league if qualified.
Miles, from Jacksonville, is also averaging 6.7 rebounds per game, which would seventh in the league. Glover is at 5.7 rebounds per game.
In the first meeting this season, a 93-80 victory by ORU, Miles led all scorers with a career-high 29 points and 9 rebounds, while Glover led the Golden Eagles with 21 points and 11 boards. ORU dominated the rebounding in that game with 50, including 16 offensive rebounds.
The Golden Eagles ran out to a 53-32 halftime lead, shooting 53 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
UCA has lost three consecutive games, two last week on the road, while ORU is 3-1 in its last four games. The Golden Eagles lost in overtime last Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. ORU sits in fifth place in the SLC standings, while UCA is ninth.
UCA is fifth in the league in scoring (74.8) while ORU is seventh (71.5). ORU is more dominant on the defense end, allowing just 69.0 points per game (second in the league), while UCA's opponents average 81.4 points per game.
The Bears and Golden Eagles will tip-off at approximately 4 p.m. following the women's game.
