Conway – The Central Arkansas women's soccer was back in action on Friday night, hosting Southland Conference foe Abilene Christian at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. The Bears and the Wildcats each scored a pair of goals on the night, playing to a 2-2 draw.
Central Arkansas (5-4-2, 1-1-1 SLC) took a 1-0 lead in the 24

Brooke Ballard fielded a corner kick from
Vanessa Randall and passed it to
Allie Coleman, who tapped it in from five yards out. Abilene Christian evened the score at 1-1 in the 36
th minute, when Tiffany Ysassi played the ball to Leslie Snider, who put the ball into the bottom left corner of the net. "We did a good job of crashing in on the corner kick and then slipping the pass in some tight space," said Central Arkansas head coach Jeremy Bishop of the Bears' first goal.
The Bears re-took the lead in the 74
th minute, when
Chele Naudin gathered a deflection off the hands of ACU keeper Sydney Newton and put it away to put UCA up 2-1. Just three minutes later, the Wildcats again evened the score, when Taylor Brown redirected a shot from Chantal Kinsey into the back of the Central Arkansas net to knot the score at 2-2.
Both teams had chances in the remainder of regulation and overtime, but neither team was able to find the game-winner.
"I feel like we controlled the tempo for most of the night," said Bishop. "They definitely had stretches where they were on us and played some good soccer, but I feel like, on the evening, it was our tempo and our game, and it was probably one of our best games of the season."
Abilene Christian outshot Central Arkansas by a tally of 17-14 on the night, though the Bears held a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. Coleman and Randal led the Central Arkansas attack, placing both of their attempts on target, while Naudin, Brooke Ballard, and Dayna Mounie each added a shot on goal. Abilene Christian had six players place a shot on frame.
Anna Hughes played the entire game in goal for Central Arkansas, making four saves and allowing two goals. Kelsey Dombrowski started in goal for the Wildcats, playing 80 minutes, making three save and allowing a goal. Sydney Newton started the second half in goal for ACU, playing thirty minutes, making two saves, and allowing a goal before leaving with an injury.
Central Arkansas takes the field again on Sunday afternoon, hosting Incarnate Word at 1:00 PM. "Incarnate Word has several good players on their roster," said Bishop of the Cardinals. "We saw them on video this week and they have some players that we're going to have to be aware of. They haven't gotten the results that they've wanted, but they're definitely capable so we have to come ready to play."
