Conway – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team will take time before its final home Missouri Valley Conference match of the season on Saturday to pay tribute to four members of its squad. The Bears will honor the career accomplishments and contributions of defenders
Matt Taphorn and
Sam Cusack, and midfielders
Logan Miller and
Manuel Montal.
Taphorn, from Denver, Colorado, has appeared in ten games for the Bears this season, and 51 over the course of his career. His 4,346 minutes played is good for the third most in Central Arkansas history. Taphorn, who was selected to the MVC All-Freshman Team in 2011, was named All-MVC in each of the past two seasons, earning Honorable Mention in 2012 and Second Team honors in 2013. He was named to the Preseason All-MVC squad prior to this season. Taphorn is pursuing a degree in Health Education.
Cusack, a native of London, England, has been a mainstay in the Central Arkansas lineup since transferring from Yavapi Community College prior to the 2013 season. He has appeared in 13 games for the Bears this season and 30 during his career. Cuasack has taken seven shots in his career and assisted on one goal while playing 2,423 minutes. He is pursuing a degree in Finance.
Miller, a native of Tomball, Texas, has also appeared consistently for the Bears since transferring from Regis University before the 2013 season, appearing in 10 games this year and 26 for his career. Miller tied for the team lead in points last season, scoring five goals and assisting on five others, a performance which earned him All-MVC Second Team honors last season and a spot on the Preseason All-MVC team prior to this season. Miller is pursuing a degree in Speech Communication.
Montal, from Gijon, Spain, has seen action in 13 matches this season and 31 matches during his career. He has scored four goals and assisted on four more during his career, and earned All-MVC honorable mention following the 2012 season. Montal is pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
Senior Day activities will take place at approximately 2:00 PM on Saturday, prior to the kickoff of the Bears' MVC match against Loyola at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex.
