The Central Arkansas volleyball team traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday to face off against new Southland Conference opponent New Orleans. The Sugar Bears picked up their fifth straight-set victory in a row, taking down the Privateers 25-13, 25-16, 25-11 behind a .353 hitting percentage.
Heather Schnars had a big day for Central Arkansas (12-3, 4-0 SLC), turning in a match-high 11 kills and adding five digs, two service aces, and an assist. Marissa Collins keyed the Sugar Bear offense, dishing out 32 assists, while Shelbee Berringer led a Central Arkansas defense with eight digs and helping the Sugar Bears hold the Privateers (2-14, 0-4 SLC) to an .039 hitting percentage. Marti Richmiller and Kelsea Hundtoft led the UNO offense with five kills apiece, and Celeste Ramirez had 13 assists. Lauren Levy tallied a match-high 10 digs.
Central Arkansas returns to the court on Thursday, hosting Northwestern State in the Prince Center at 7:00 pm. Stephen F. Austin will visit the Prince on Saturday, facing off with the Sugar Bears at noon.
