WOMEN’S SOCCER BEATS ULM 6-2

Conway, Ark. –

The Central Arkansas Bears faced off against the University of Louisiana at Monroe Warhawks at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex on Friday night. The Bears returned to the win column for the first time since August 25th, taking down the Warhawks 6-2.

The teams traded goals early, with ULM grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute as Amanda Borstelmann took a corner kick from Kylie Kukowski and put it in the net. Central Arkansas found an equalizer in the 45th minute, as Shelby Wilson netted a laser from 30 yards out to even the score at 1-1 at the half. ULM retook the lead in the 49th minute, as Kukowski found Mariah Mitchell on another corner for the 2-1 lead. Kate Koch evened the score at 2-2 in the 53rd minute, fielding a pass from Wilson and putting away from 22 yards out. In the 59th minute, Brooke Ballard found Adriana Lucar on a breakaway and Lucar slipped the ball past the keeper for the 3-2 lead. Central Arkansas extended its lead in the 69th minute, as Ballard fielded a rebound and put it away. Wilson got her second goal of the night in the 71st minute, taking a pass from Lucar and slamming it home from five yards out. Chele Naudin added one more insurance goal for the Bears in the 89th minute, taking a pass from Sara Perlman and sneaking it by the keeper for her first goal in a Central Arkansas uniform.

Hayley Romero played the first half in goal for the Bears, making one save and allowing one goal. Lyndzey Goff played the second half, making two saves and allowing one goal. Holly Mallinson played 55 minutes in net for the Warhawks, making four saves and allowing a pair of goals. Katherine Werther played 35 minutes, allowing four goals and making two saves.

Central Arkansas returns to the field on Sunday, travelling to Fort Worth, Texas to battle TCU.
