SUGAR BEARS FALL TO ARIZONA, DEFEAT MORGAN STATE

Heather Schnars had 22 kills in two matches on Saturday

Tucson, Ariz. –

The Central Arkansas Volleyball Team played a pair of matches on Saturday, falling to Arizona 3-1 and defeating Morgan State 3-0.

In the Sugar Bears first match, Arizona (2-0) took the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-22, before Central Arkansas won the third set 25-23. The Wildcats won the fourth set 25-21 to complete the victory.

Freshman Fulani Petties led the Sugar Bears with 12 kills, hitting .304 and chipping in two blocks and two assists. Heather Schnars added nine kills and seven digs, while Marissa Collins dished out 38 assists.

In the second match of the day, Central Arkansas (2-1) won the first set 25-18, the second set 25-15, and the third set 25-17 over Morgan State. The Sugar Bears hit .317 as a team, led by Schnars, who hit .476 with a team-high 13 kills. Collins picked up 35 assists and Shelbee Berringer added 11 digs.

The Sugar Bears open their home schedule Friday night against Arkansas-Pine Bluff  at 7:00 pm in the first game of this season's UCA/Sears Sugar Bear Classic. Central Arkansas will play Jackson State at 2:00 pm Friday afternoon and UL-Monroe at 7:00 pm on Saturday before closing out the tournament against UT-Pan American on Saturday at 7:00pm.
