CONWAY, Ark. _  Another buzzer-beater, another Southland Conference Player of the Week award for University of Central Arkansas forward Jarvis Garner.

Garner sent UCA’s game with Oral Roberts to overtime on Saturday with a last-second, 28-foot three-pointer, the third such shot this season for the 6-foot-7 forward from Conway. He finished with a game-high 34 points to lead UCA to an 86-84 overtime win over third-place ORU in the regular-season finale at the Farris Center. That earned him the final SLC Player of the Week award of the season, his second this year. 

Garner hit two long three-pointers earlier this season against McNeese State to send that game into the first and second overtimes, and earned SLC honors that week as well.

Garner is third in the league in scoring at 16.1 points per game, and eighth in rebounding at 6.9.

UCA earned the seventh seed in this week’s Southland Conference Tournament and will open against No. 6 seed Sam Houston State at 7:30 Wednesday at the Leonard E. Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
