MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO LOYOLA 2-0

Chicago, Ill. –

The Central Arkansas men's soccer team traveled to Chicago, Illinois on Sunday for a Missouri Valley Conference match against Loyola. The Ramblers struck once in each half to take down the Bears 2-0.

Loyola (5-10-2, 2-3-1 MVC) got the scoring started in the 27th minute. Reed Patterson took a free kick for the Ramblers and Ryan Howe flicked the ball to the center of the box, where Lee Grander headed it home for the 1-0 lead. Loyola added to its lead in the 66th minute, when Eric Nock lofted a corner kick into the box that Brian Bement headed into the Central Arkansas net to push the lead to 2-0.

Central Arkansas (4-11-1, 0-4-1 MVC) got a shot on goal from Wes Carson, Logan Miller, and Connor Bowen. Grander led the Ramblers with two shots on goal, while Bement, Jake Savino, Dane Bergstrom, and Kevin Engesser each added one. Patxi Shortsleeve was in goal for the Bears, making four saves and allowing two goals. Tim Dombrowski made three saves for Loyola.

Central Arkansas returns to action on Friday night at 7:00, welcoming Drake to the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. The Bears will be celebrating Senior Night, honoring the career achievements of seven seniors.
