Conway – The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears played in the Farris Center for the first time since clenching the Southland Conference Tournament title last season, and just like last year they played well. Central Arkansas hit .283 while holding the Privateers to a percentage of -.037 to improve to a perfect 17-0 in SLC play.
The Sugar Bears (25-3, 17-0 SLC) took the first set 25-7, the second set 25-14, and the third set 25-23 to earn their tenth straight-set victory in conference play. Heather Schnars had a match-high 11 kills for Central Arkansas, adding four digs and two aces, while Evie Grace Singleton chipped in eight kills, three digs, and three blocks. Central Arkansas record-holder Marissa Collins, who was honored before the match, dished out a match-high 22 assists in two sets and Amy South added 12. Shelbee Berringer had a match-high 21 digs. New Orleans (3-27, 0-17 SLC) was led by Marti Richmiller's six kills and Celeste Ramirez's 15 assists offensively. Ramirez also had a team-high nine digs.
Central Arkansas will wrap up the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm, welcoming Southeastern Louisiana to the Prince Center. The day will be a special one for the Sugar Bears, as they will celebrate Senior Day, honoring the career accomplishments of six seniors.
