SUGAR BEARS DEFEAT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN IN STRAIGHT SETS

Nacogdoches, Texas –

The Central Arkansas volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday, heading to Nacogdoches, Texas for the first of a five game road trip. The Sugar Bears hit .340 on the night, taking down the Ladyjacks 3-0.

Central Arkansas (20-3, 12-0 SLC) hit no lower than .276 in any set, taking the first one 25-15, the second one 25-18, and the third one 25-23. Jessica Nagy, making her first start since October 5th due to injury, led the Sugar Bears' offense with 12 kills. Scout Brooks chipped in 10 kills to go along with three digs and a block. Marissa Collins keyed the Central Arkansas offense, dishing out 42 assists. Shelbee Berringer led a Central Arkansas defense that held the Ladyjacks (13-12, 5-7 SLC) to a .183 hitting percentage, digging up a team-high 13 attacks. Jill Ivy led the way offensively for Stephen F. Austin, turning in 12 kills. Shannon Connell and Paige Holland led marshaled the SFA offense almost evenly, dishing out 18 and 17 assists, respectively. On the defensive front, OJ Olson dug up 20 balls.

The Sugar Bears return to action on Thursday in Beaumont, Texas, battling Lamar at 7:00 pm. Central Arkansas will then travel to Huntsville, Texas for a matchup between the top two teams in the Southland Conference. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 in the afternoon.
