Houston, Texas –
The Central Arkansas women's soccer team wrapped up a two game road trip on Sunday afternoon, squaring off with the Houston Baptist Huskies in Houston, Texas. The Bears got a second-half goal to get the victory on the day, improving to .500 on the season and in Southland Conference play.
Neither team could get on the board in the first half, despite combining for 16 shots in the period. The Bears (7-7-2, 4-4-0 SLC) took the lead in the 64
th minute, when Kate Koch dumped a ball behind the Houston Baptist (4-10-1, 3-5-0 SLC) back line. Adriana Lucar won a race for the ball, slotting it past the HBU keeper for her ninth goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. The goal would prove to be all the offense that Central Arkansas would need, as the Huskies were unable to find a tying goal.
Lucar led the Central Arkansas offense, placing four of her five attempts on goal, while Alex Wurst and Abby Hodgson were each on target with both of their shot attempts. Kate Koch and Brooke Ballard each added a shot on goal. Molly Missimer was the only Husky to record two shots on goal, placing two of her eight attempts on frame. Eight other Houston Baptist players had a shot on goal. Lyndzey Goff had a big day in goal for Central Arkansas, making ten saves and blanking Houston Baptist for her first shutout of the season. Patty Walrath took the loss for HBU, making nine saves and allowing one goal.
Central Arkansas will return to action on Friday, traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a 7:00 pm match at Oral Roberts. Central Arkansas will then return to Conway next Sunday, playing host to Stephen F. Austin in a 1:00 pm match at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex.
