The Central Arkansas volleyball team played the first game of a two game road trip on Thursday, facing off with the McNeese State Cowgirls. The Sugar Bears continued their run of dominant play in the SLC, defeating the Cowgirls 25-22, 25-21, 25-20 to earn their seventh sweep in Southland Conference play.
Central Arkansas (16-3, 8-0 SLC) was led offensively by Kyle Hartman and Alicia Dittrich, who each collected a match-high 12 kills. Heather Schnars added 10 kills, while Paige Gantar chipped in nine kills for the Sugar Bears, who hit .336 on the night. Marissa Collins picked up a double-double, dishing out 48 assists and digging 12 balls, while Shelbee Berringer dug up 19 attacks to lead the Central Arkansas defense. Rachel Cagnina, Carly DeMarque, and Malina Sanchez led the way for the Cowgirl offense, each tallying nine kills. Vanessa Bentley assisted on 27 kills, while Kimberlyn Patterson had nine digs.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Saturday, travelling to Thibodaux, Louisiana to face Nicholls State at 2:00 pm.
