The Central Arkansas women's soccer team squared off against Nicholls State at the Bill Stephens Soccer Complex. The Bears got the early lead, but the Colonels countered with a pair of goals in the second half to get the win.
Central Arkansas (6-6-2, 3-3-0 SLC) wasted little time in scoring the game's first goal, taking a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on Adriana Lucar's eighth goal of the season. Nicholls (10-3-1, 4-3-0 SLC) got an equalizer in the 52
nd minute when Jess Coates collected a pass from Melissa Pestalozzi and slammed it home to even the score at 1-1. The Colonels found the game-winner in the 83
rd minute. Lauren O'Brien gathered a loose ball and fired it into the net to put Nicholls up 2-1.
Kate Koch and Shelby Wilson led the Central Arkansas offense, each placing one of their two shots on goal. Lucar and Brooke Ballard were each on target with their only shot. Spencer Valdespino led the way for Nicholls, placing three of her seven shots on frame. Kaitlyn Keith played the first half in goal for the Bears, making one save, and Lyndzey Goff was in net for the second half, making four saves. Taylor Mosely was the keeper for Nicholls, making three saves.
Central Arkansas hits the road next weekend, traveling to Texas for a pair of Southland Conference matches. On Friday, the Bears will be in Huntsville for a 7:00 pm match against Sam Houston State, before heading to Houston for a 2:00 pm match against Houston Baptist on Sunday.
