The Central Arkansas women's soccer team returned to the field at Bill Stephens Soccer Complex, hosting Southland Conference-leading Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night. The Bears were unable to secure the victory, falling 2-1 to the Lady Lions.
Southeastern Louisiana (10-2-1, 5-1-0 SLC) jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 12
th minute when Kayla Vera dribbled her way through the Central Arkansas (6-5-2, 3-2-0 SLC) defense along the goal and slipped the ball into the net for her second goal of the season. Central Arkansas found an equalizer in the 40
th minute. Marisela Chavez lofted a corner kick into the box, where it was collected by Kate Koch, who then put it away to even the score at 1-1. The Lady Lions found a goal on a corner of their own in the 50
th minute, when Chelsea Villaescusa fired a corner kick that Erin Christ headed home for the 2-1 lead. The Bears were unable to find another equalizer before time ran out.
Koch was on frame with both of her attempts, while Adriana Lucar, Alex Wurst and Vanessa Randall each added a shot on goal. Vera led Southeastern Louisiana, placing three of her four shots on target. Kelsey Salcido and Jen Babcock were each on goal on one of their two attempts, and Christ also had a shot on goal. Lyndzey Goff was in net for the Bears, making four saves and allowing two goals. Hope Sabadash allowed one goal and made five saves in goal for the Lady Lions.
Central Arkansas returns to action on Sunday afternoon. The Bears will play host to Nicholls State at noon.
