The Central Arkansas volleyball team took the best shot that Southeastern Louisiana had on Saturday, but managed to score a five set victory to push their record to 14-1 on the season.
The Sugar Bears (14-1, 3-1 SLC) hit .253 for the match, led by Taylor Hammonds, who hit .458 on her way to 13 kills on day. Jessica Hays led Central Arkansas with 22 kills, but the Sugar Bears saw five different players record double digit kills. Heather Schnars and Kyle Hartman both turned in 11 kills, and Alicia Dittrich collected ten. Marissa Collins drove the offense, distributing 58 assists in the match. Shelbee Berringer helped lead the Central Arkansas defense, with 22 digs.
Southeastern Louisiana (5-7, 1-3) hit .269 for the match, highlighted by a third set in which they hit .542. Courtney Donald led the way with 17 kills and a hitting percentage of .469. Becky Bekelja turned in 36 assists, and Megan McMilin collected 19 digs.
The Sugar Bears hit the road for their next two games, traveling to Natchitoches, Loiusiana to battle Northwestern State on Thursday, and to Nagocdoches, Texas on Saturday.
