WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS RAIN-SHORTENED MATCH AGAINST UAPB

Elizabeth Brady netted two goals against UAPB on Friday
Conway, Ark. –

The Central Arkansas women’s soccer program battled both the elements and the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions on Friday afternoon, emerging victorious when the match was called due to weather in the 73rd minute.

The Bears (7-2) got on the board early, when, in the ninth minute, Adriana Lucar fielded a cross from Kristin Pollard and slipped it into the net for her tenth goal of the season. The two hooked up again in the 22nd minute, as Pollard again fed Lucar, giving the Bears a 2-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Elizabeth Brady took a cross from Marisela Chavez, putting it in for her second goal of the season. Brady added another strike in the 42nd minute, collecting a pass from Cristin Curl and putting it away for the 4-0 lead. Chavez joined the action two minutes later, blasting her fifth goal of the season from 15 yards out. The Bears’ final goal of the game came in the 60th minute, when Vanessa Randall slid a pass to Chelsea Collins, who put it away for her first goal of the season.

The Bears took 29 shots during the match, placing 12 of them on goal. They were led by Chavez, who placed two of her six shots on goal. Lyndzey Goff was in goal for the Bears, but she was not tested. Alyssa Cobbs, in goal for the Lady Lions (0-7-0) tallied six saves during the game.

The Bears return to the field on Sunday, September 23rd, when they face off against Texas Southern in Houston.
