ITTA BENA, Miss. — The Central Arkansas women's soccer team continued its hot streak on Friday as the Bears easily handled Mississippi Valley State 7-1 to improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 on the road this season.
Central Arkansas built a 3-0 lead in the first period, then extended it in the second half in an offensive onslaught that saw Adriana Lucar record her second hat trick of the season, four Bears in all record goals and seven credited with assists.
Lucar, who has seven goals on the season – already tied for the most in a season by a UCA player since moving to Division I, got the scoring started in the 12th minute. Emma Reed added her first goal in the 30th, and the first-half scoring was capped by Marisela Chavez netting her fourth of the season.
Lucar struck again just more than eight minutes apart in the second half, putting the Bears ahead 5-0 before the Devilettes got on the board in the 80th minute. The Bears closed it out with a pair of goals from Cristin Curl in the 84th and 90th minutes.
Elizabeth Brady and Abigail Hodgson each recorded two assists, with Sara Perlman, Grace Purtle, Megan Thomas, Lauren Trueheart and Alex Wurst each adding one.
The Bears tallied 17 shots, putting 16 of them on frame, while holding MVSU to five shots.
UCA's road swing ends on Sunday when the Bears travel to Alabama A&M for a 1 p.m. start. The Bears return home to face UALR on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
