SUGAR BEARS SWEEP WOFFORD AND FLORIDA ATLANTIC TO FINISH CLARION CLASSIC UNDEFEATED

Jessica Hays collected 23 kills and two service aces on Saturday
DeLand, Fla.-

The Central Arkansas Volleyball team continued to roll on Saturday, taking straight set victories from Wofford and Florida Atlantic to run their record to 7-0.

In their first match of the day, the Sugar Bears won by margins of 25-23, 25-23, 25-18. As a team, the Sugar Bears hit .265, led by Taylor Hammonds, who hit .400 on her way to seven kills. Jessica Hays led Central Arkansas in kills with 17, hitting .303 while also contributing a service ace and 13 digs. Scout Brooks also chipped in with 10 kills on a .280 hitting percentage. Setter Marissa Collins was again solid for the Sugar Bears, collecting 39 assists and three digs.

In their second match of the day, the Sugar Bears beat Florida Atlantic 25-16, 29-27, 25-11. Central Arkansas hit .250 for the match, led by Hays who hit .455 with six kills. Hammonds led the way for the Sugar Bears, collecting nine kills, while also recording four blocks, and Heather Schnars added eight kills and eight digs. Collins collected 29 assists and six digs, throwing in two kills for good measure.

The Sugar Bears return to the court on Thursday, hosting Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Conway in the Sugar Bear Classic. They then face Jackson State and South Dakota on Saturday before closing out the tournament against Jacksonville State on Sunday.
