CONWAY — The Central Arkansas women's soccer team, coming off a sweep of their season-opening road swing last weekend, make their home debut this weekend with a pair of games at the Bill Stephens Complex.

The Bears, off to their first 2-0 start since 2005, host Lipscomb at 4 p.m. on Friday and then play their first-ever match against Louisiana Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Through their first two games, the Bears have outscored their opponents 12-1, including a 10-0 thrashing of Alcorn State in the season opener. Junior forward Kristin Pollard leads the team with seven points with a pair of goals and three assists, while junior Adriana Lucar and freshman Marisela Chavez each have six points off three goals.

Two Bears earned Southland Conference weekly awards following last weekend's output, with Pollard being named Offensive Player of the Week and senior Kelsey Gochnauer being named Goalkeeper of the Week.

The Bears defeated Lipscomb 1-0 in Nashville, Tenn. last season with Maddi Poteet scoring the game's lone goal in the 39th minute. The Bears lead the series 4-2, with the teams having met each season since 2006. UCA won the first two, and the teams have alternated wins in the four previous seasons.

The Lady Bisons are 1-1 on the season, losing 2-1 at Xavier on Monday after opening the season with a 2-0 win at home over Jackson State last Friday.

Louisiana Tech is 1-0 entering Friday, when the Lady Techsters will host Southern Miss at 11 a.m., with a 5-0 defeat of LSU-Shreveport to their credit. Five different players scored in that game for Tech.
