BEARS STRUGGLE OFFENSIVELY, LOSE PITCHER'S DUEL TO TULSA

Kelsie Armstrong collected her 29th complete game of the Season
Tulsa, Okla.-

The Central Arkansas offense had a hard time getting anything going Tuesday night in Tulsa, dropping a 1-0 pitcher’s duel to the Golden Hurricane. The Bears (31-18) could only muster one hit in the game.

The Bears sole hit of the night came in the top of the seventh inning when catcher Melanie Bryant drove a single through the left side of the infield. The only other Bears to reach base on the day were designated player Melissa Bryant, who was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning, and third baseman Tiffany Roby, who drew a walk in the seventh inning.

The Golden Hurricane (30-9) got what would turn out to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the second inning when right fielder Jessica Stoelke smashed a two-out triple to right center field. First baseman Shelby Blanton rapped a single back up the middle, bringing Stoelke in for the game’s only run.

The starting pitchers dominated this game, combining to allow only six hits while striking out ten in a combined thirteen innings throne. Kelsie Armstrong (19-11) took the loss for the Bears, going six innings and scattering five hits and three strikeouts in her 29th complete game of the season. Aimee Creger (14-4) collected the win for Tulsa, throwing seven innings of one hit ball while striking out seven and walking one.

The Bears return to action in Nagadoches, Texas this weekend, facing off with Stephen F. Austin Friday afternoon at 4:00 and on Saturday at noon. After that, the Central Arkansas returns home to Conway to host conference foe UT-Arlington in a midweek double-header beginning Tuesday afternoon at 4:00.
