SUGAR BEARS DOWN LAMAR IN STRAIGHT SETS

Beaumont, Texas –

The Central Arkansas volleyball team got back to their winning ways in an impressive fashion, defeating the Lamar Cardinals 25-22, 25-20, and 25-22 to get the straight set victory.

The Sugar Bears (24-4, 12-3 SLC) hit .266 on the night, led by Alicia Dittrich, who hit .467 on her way to 10 kills, three digs, a block, and an ace. Jessica Hays led Central Arkansas with 12 kills, also turning in seven digs, two aces, and a block. Scout Brooks tied for the team lead in digs with 11, to go along with nine kills. Marissa Collins dished out 34 assists and added seven digs.

The Lady Cardinals (10-19, 2-13 SLC) hit .255 for the match. Cortney Moore hit a team-high .400 on her way to a team leading 11 kills, a total matched by teammate Wendy Krell. Moore also chipped in three blocks, two aces, and a dig, while Krell tallied three blocks, a dig, and an ace. Alex Morford paced the Lamar offense, distributing 31 assists, and collecting eight digs, and three kills.

Central Arkansas returns to action Saturday afternoon at 2:00, facing off against McNeese State in Lake Charles, Louisiana. They return to Conway next weekend, wrapping up the regular season at home with matches against Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin before hosting the Southland Conference Tournament from November 16th-18th.
