The Central Arkansas Sugar Bears defeated the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, increasing their record to 22-2 on the season, and moving to 10-1 in Southland Conference play.
The Sugar Bears hit.197 on the day, led by Jessica Hays who hit .364 on her way to a team-high 20 kills. She also had 13 digs, and three blocks. Scout Brooks tallied nine kills, 10 digs, four aces, and a block. Marissa Collins dished out 46 assists and Shelbee Berringer collected 14 digs.
The Lady Lions (8-14, 3-9 SLC) hit .128 for the match, highlighted hitting .321 in a 25-21 second-set victory. Courtney Donald was the only Southeastern Louisiana player with double-digit kills, turning in 17 to go with four blocks and a dig. Megan McMillan had 12 digs and two aces, and Becky Bekelja distributed 30 assists.
Central Arkansas returns to action Tuesday evening, traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma to face off against Oral Roberts University. After that, they host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday and Sam Houston State on Saturday.
