The Sugar Bears avoided any of the dramatics that have become their calling card this season, defeating the Nicholls State Colonels 3-0 to push their record to 21-2 this season.
Central Arkansas (21-2, 9-1 SLC) hit .356 for the match, led by Taylor Hammonds, who it an impressive .714 on the way to five kills. Jessica Nagy led UCA in kills, totaling 13 kills on the night. Scout Brooks turned in 10 kills, six digs, a service ace, and an assist, while Jessica Hays tallied eight kills and an ace. The Sugar Bears collected a total of 11 service aces on the night, led by Marissa Collins and Heather Schnars who each had three aces. Collins distributed 44 digs on the night.
The Colonels (9-13, 4-7 SLC) hit .284 on the night, Sarah Terry, who hit .444 on her way to a team-high nine kills. Jennifer Brandt had seven kills and Kathryn Stock had six. Nancy Taylor keyed the offense with 29 assists.
The Sugar Bears return to action Saturday afternoon in Hammond, Louisiana, battling Southeastern Louisiana at 2:00. They then travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday to battle Oral Roberts at 7:00.
