CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears finished in a tie for seventh place on Tuesday at the Arizona Collegiate being played at Arizona National.
The Bears shot a third-round 287, their best round of the tournament on Tuesday and finished with an 883 total. Arizona won the tournament at 835, edging out California (836). New Mexico was third at 850, followed by Pepperdine (861), Campbell (874), Texas El Paso (882), UCA and UC Irvine (883), Santa Clara (889), Utah (899), UC Riverside (915) and McNeese State (930).
UCA freshman Pep Angles was the individual leader for the Bears with rounds of 74-73-70_217 to tie for 19th place. Senior Antonio Costa shot 77-71-71_219 and tied for 24th, while senior Josh Sims shot 80-74-72_246 and tied for 41st, along with freshman teammate David Morago (75-75-76_226). Junior Austen Moix tied for 51st with rounds of 77-77-74_228.
New Mexico’s John Catlin was medalist at 66-70-67_203.
